There is a howling sound on the display screen

Solutions for audio feedback and howling sounds between baby monitor camera and display

If you're experiencing a howling or screeching sound when using your baby monitor, this is typically caused by acoustic feedback between the camera and display unit.

What Causes the Howling Sound?

This phenomenon occurs when the camera and display screen are positioned too close to each other immediately after connection. The sound from the display's speaker is picked up by the camera's microphone, creating a feedback loop that produces the characteristic howling or whistling noise.

Solution 1: Adjust Volume Settings

The quickest way to eliminate the howling sound is to reduce the audio output from the display.

Steps:

  1. Locate the MENU button on your display screen
  2. Press the MENU button to access settings
  3. Navigate to audio or volume settings
  4. Reduce the speaker volume to an appropriate level
  5. Test the audio to confirm the howling has stopped

Recommended settings:

  • Start with medium volume (50%)
  • Gradually adjust up or down based on your needs
  • Find the balance between audible monitoring and feedback prevention

Solution 2: Increase Physical Distance

Creating more physical separation between the camera and display unit will naturally eliminate the feedback loop.

Recommendations:

  1. Minimum distance: Place camera and display at least 3-6 feet (1-2 meters) apart
  2. Optimal placement: Position them in their intended locations (camera in baby's room, display in your room)
  3. Avoid facing each other: Angle the devices away from direct line-of-sight

Prevention Tips

To avoid howling sounds during initial setup:

  • Set up the camera and display in their final positions from the start
  • Keep volume at moderate levels during pairing
  • Avoid testing audio with both devices in the same room
  • Use the app's volume controls rather than maximum display volume

When to Contact Support

If the howling sound persists after trying these solutions, or if you experience audio issues even with proper distance and volume settings, please contact our customer support team for assistance.
