SD Card Not Recognized After Installation

How to format and initialize a newly installed Micro SD card

Why Does Local Playback Prompt "No SD Card" After Installing One?

When you insert a new Micro SD card into your baby monitor, it needs to be initialized and formatted before the camera can use it for recording.

Why This Happens

A newly installed Micro SD card requires:

  • Initial formatting to the camera's file system
  • Proper initialization by the camera
  • Recognition and mounting by the recording system

Simply inserting the card isn't enough - the camera needs to prepare it for use.

How to Fix This

Step 1: Access Recording Management

  1. Open your camera app
  2. Navigate to the Recording Management page

Step 2: Format the SD Card

  1. Look for the SD card formatting option
  2. Tap Format to initialize the card
  3. Wait for the formatting process to complete (this may take a few moments)

Step 3: Verify Recognition

Once formatting is complete:

  • Check that the capacity information displays correctly on the Recording Management page
  • You should see the total and available storage space
  • The card status should show as "Normal" or "Ready"

After Successful Formatting

Once the camera recognizes your SD card properly:

  • Recording will begin automatically (if motion detection is enabled)
  • You'll be able to access local playback
  • The camera will display storage capacity information
  • Video files will be saved to the card

Troubleshooting

If the card still isn't recognized after formatting:

  1. Remove and reinsert the card - Ensure it's fully seated in the slot
  2. Try formatting again - Sometimes a second format resolves issues
  3. Check SD card compatibility - Use a card from a mainstream brand, 128GB or smaller
  4. Test with another card - This helps determine if the issue is with the card or camera
  5. Clean the contacts - Gently wipe the metal contacts on the SD card with a soft cloth

Prevention Tips

  • Always format new SD cards in the camera before first use
  • Use recommended SD card specifications (Class 10, mainstream brand, ≤128GB)
  • Avoid removing the card while the camera is recording
  • Don't format the card on a computer after it's been formatted in the camera
