  • Method 2: Scan the "ieGeek Cam" app QR code to download it.

Note: When using the app for the first time, allow the following 2 authorizations.

  • Allow "ieGeek Cam" to access mobile data and WLAN, otherwise you will not be able to add devices.
  • Allow "ieGeek Cam" to receive push messages, otherwise the phone will not receive push notifications when motion detection or sound alarms are triggered.

Register the Account

New users need to register by e-mail. The specific steps are as follows:

Click "Register".
Follow the steps to complete the account registration.

Tips:

  • Please use the correct e-mail address.
  • Select the correct international prefix.
  • When registering a new account, select your current region. (Cameras cannot be shared across different registered regions.)

3. How to Add the Camera to the App

Before you start:

  1. Insert the Micro SD card before power on, otherwise the SD card cannot be detected.
  2. Place the camera and smartphone 1-3 feet (30-100 cm) away from the router to set up Wi-Fi.
  3. Make sure the camera uses 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi.

Method 2: Scan the Code to Connect

On the home page, tap "Add" or "+" in the top-right corner, then tap "Add device".

Home page Add device screen and Select device list in the app
Select "Battery Camera".

If your phone's Bluetooth is not on, the app will show a pop-up; allow Bluetooth to be turned on.

Select device list and the Bluetooth permission pop-up with found devices
After Bluetooth is enabled, the app automatically searches for powered-on, unconnected devices. Select the device you want to connect from the search list.

Power on the camera. Press and hold the power (camera battery) button to start the device. Place it near the router for a better signal.

Add battery camera screens to start the device and to reset the device
Reset the device. Press the RESET button on the device for 4-5 seconds. The LED indicator will emit a slow red flashing light. Click "Next".

Enter the Wi-Fi password. Select a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network and enter the password, then confirm.

Wi-Fi Setup screen confirming the 2.4G network name and password, and the Scan QR Code screen
Scan the QR code. When you click "Next", a QR code appears on the smartphone screen. Hold the smartphone screen in front of the camera lens at a distance of about 15-25 cm. When the device recognizes the QR code, it confirms with a sound from the device.

Wait for the connection. The app shows the connection progress. Make sure the device is powered on, the device is connected to the router, and the device and phone are on the same network.

Connect to network progress screen and Connection success screen with the Done button
Device added. When the connection succeeds, the camera is added and you can click "Done".

Note: If the camera can't be powered on, first connect a DC 5V 2A power adapter to charge the camera for 15 minutes.

My Camera Cannot Connect to the Wi-Fi?

Make sure the Wi-Fi the camera is connecting to is 2.4 GHz. In our experience, in most cases the network connection fails because users use 5 GHz Wi-Fi.
Check that the Wi-Fi password is correct. (Note: the Wi-Fi password cannot include quotation marks, underscores, spaces or slashes (/).)
Check the number of devices connected to the router. In general, the router has a connection limit. Once the devices connected to the router exceed the maximum allowed, other devices will not be able to connect.
Make sure the QR code on the phone screen is normal and that the distance between the phone and the camera lens is 10-15 cm (3.9-5.9 inches) during scanning.
If the camera still cannot connect to the Wi-Fi, try downloading the app again, reset the camera and restart the router, then add it again.
If you have tried all the steps but still have no luck, send a message with your order and the problem to [email protected].

4. Charge the Battery

5. Camera Installation Tips

Diagram showing a camera mounted 2-3 meters high with a PIR detection distance of 1-7 meters
  • Mounting height: 2-3 meters.
  • PIR detection distance: 1-7 meters.

Tips:

  • Use the protective cover to help the camera better resist the weather when installing it outdoors.
  • Please install the camera at a height of 2-3 meters (7-10 ft) from the ground. This height maximizes the motion sensor's detection field.
  • For efficient motion detection, install the camera at an angle.

Warning: If a moving object approaches the PIR sensor vertically, the camera may not be able to detect it.

6. PIR Motion Sensor Tips

PIR Sensor Detection Distance

The PIR sensor detection range can be customized to suit your needs. You can refer to the following table to configure it in the device settings via the ieGeek Cam app.

SensitivityDetection Distance (for moving and living objects)
Level 1-3 (Low)Up to 2-5 meters
Level 4-7 (Medium)Up to 5-8 meters
Level 8-10 (High)Up to 8-10 meters

Important Notes on Reducing False Alarms

  • Do not point the camera at any object with intense lights, including sunlight and intense lamp lights, etc.
  • Do not place the camera near any vent, including air conditioner vents, dehumidifier vents, projector heat transfer vents, etc.
  • Do not install the camera in windy places.
  • Do not point the camera at a mirror.
  • Keep the camera at least 1 meter away from any wireless device, including Wi-Fi routers and phones, to avoid wireless interference.

7. FAQs

For more detailed frequently asked questions, open the app and look in "Me" - "Help and Questions" - "Battery Camera".

Why is the device offline?

Check whether the equipment is powered on and observe whether the working status indicator is on and lit normally.
Confirm that the current location has good Wi-Fi coverage and that the network is stable; make sure the Wi-Fi signal is over 75%.
You could try a third-party "wifi analyzer" tool to analyze the current Wi-Fi signal coverage and interference status. If the coverage is poor and the interference is wide, it is recommended to change the camera's installation position, adjust the router position, or use a second-level router.
Avoid using Wi-Fi extenders.

Updating the router password or Wi-Fi?

Delete the camera from your ieGeek Cam account. After resetting the device, use the new Wi-Fi or the new password to add it again.

Can't connect to the Wi-Fi?

The Wi-Fi currently connected to the phone is a 2.4 GHz network.
The current location has good Wi-Fi coverage and a stable network (the Wi-Fi signal is greater than 75%).
Avoid using Wi-Fi extenders.
Check whether the Wi-Fi password was entered correctly. If the connection fails, clearly verify whether the Wi-Fi password was entered correctly. In rare cases of particular network incompatibilities, the app and the camera may not connect correctly. In this case, our camera is not compatible — please contact after-sales service.

Rapid power consumption

In case of poor Wi-Fi coverage (such as a signal lower than 75%), this will increase the power consumption.
The PIR trigger frequency is high, and power consumption increases when the infrared light / white light turns on at night.
The phone frequently accesses the camera remotely, which will increase the power consumption.
For first use, it is recommended to use power down to 10%, then charge it to 100%, which is good for the health of the lithium battery.

The camera does not detect?

In case of an unstable network, the message may not be sent in time after the PIR is triggered. In this case, first confirm the network status and remove the camera to check and confirm in an environment with good network coverage.
An inappropriate installation position will cause PIR detection to fail. If the position is too high, the object is too far away, or the object is too small, the camera will not be triggered; try adjusting the installation position several times based on the activation requirements.

SD card not recognized?

The supported capacity is 16-128 GB Micro SD card.
Before use, format the SD card as a FAT32 or exFAT file system on the computer, then insert it into the camera and run the memory card format operation on the camera.
If the SD card is still not recognized during use, it is generally a problem with the quality of the SD card, and the memory card needs to be replaced with a more stable read/write one.
